Work Quality 2025

27.01.2025 – The sixth edition of the “Work Quality in Italy” survey is underway and will continue until July 2025. This periodic sample survey analyses the subjective and objective aspects that determine work quality.

First launched in 2002, the survey is particularly significant as it is included in the Sistan National Statistical Programme, thus considered of public interest (Legislative Decree No. 322/1989). Furthermore, it is part of the National Programme “Youth, Women, and Work” 2021–2027, under which Inapp operates as an Intermediate Body.

Work influences people’s quality of life and well-being. For this reason, it is important to measure and analyse all its aspects, both quantitative (e.g., employment volumes, hours worked, salary) and qualitative (e.g., job security, workplace climate, skills utilisation, access to training). Insights from previous editions have highlighted the factors determining different levels of work quality in recent years, alongside the impact of economic-financial and pandemic crises.

The sixth edition, which involves a sample of 20,000 workers aged 18 and over, seeks to understand workers’ experiences in the workplace. The questionnaire explores key areas such as working hours and relationships, health and safety, social climate, economic stability, career prospects, autonomy, and degree of control.

The survey also includes a sample of businesses to understand how different organisational models and corporate strategies (e.g., development, training, personnel management, innovation) affect work quality. To this end, a set of questions is directed at a sample of 10,000 local units to collect information on organisational profiles, business demographics, workforce characteristics, recruitment processes, personnel development strategies, innovation approaches, and worker representation.

The companies commissioned by Inapp for data collection use expert interviewers who will contact a sample of employees and local units to participate in the survey via telephone interviews.
