70th Eurostat Yearbook: focusing on the European Year of Skills

12.10.2023 –The 70th edition of the Eurostat Regional Yearbook has been released. The Yearbook is an important tool to understand and quantify the impact of political decisions on a specific territory or region. The Yearbook 2023 provides a detailed picture of a broad range of topics and statistical data on population, economy, and environment across the European Union regions.

This edition focuses on the European Year of Skills and skill-related topics.

Having a workforce with the requested skills also helps sustainable growth, and results in increased innovation and improved competitiveness among businesses, which are crucial aspects in order to ensure the economic recovery from the COVID-19 crisis, as well as a fair implementation of the green and digital transition.

The European Year of Skills is expected to help the EU reach two of its social goals by 2030, i.e. at least 60% of all adults in training and at least 78% employed.

Each chapter displays statistical information in the form of maps, figures and infographics, accompanied by a descriptive analysis highlighting the main findings.

Regional indicators are presented for the following 13 subjects: population, health, education, the labor market, living conditions, the digital society, economy, businesses, research and development, tourism, transport, the information society and the environment, agriculture.
