Skills, skills, skills! Skills for people, skills for competitiveness, skills for sustainability

12.09.2023 –The international conference “Skills, skills, skills! Skills for people, skills for competitiveness, skills for sustainability” organised by the European Parliament will take place in Brussels on 20 September 2023.

The event will be held in partnership with the following five EU Agencies:  the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop), the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound), the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), The European Training Foundation (ETF) and the European Labour Authority (ELA).

Following the success of last year’s joint event held with these agencies, which marked the European Year of Youth, this Conference will provide an opportunity to release the latest findings of the research on skills needs and workforce gaps and shortages, and respond to some urgent questions such as:

  • How can we preserve the ongoing development of skills vis-à-vis the demographic challenges that we have to tackle?
  • How can we implement the digital and green transitions within the context of changing skills needs?
  • How can we address the issues that cause the skills gap in order to ensure inclusive growth?
  • How to attract qualified workers from third countries in order to mitigate the skill gap?
  • How can policymakers and social partners contribute to creating fair, just, healthy and safe workplaces?

These are just some of the questions that will be addressed during the day-event, to be attended by key experts from the labour and educational world, policymakers and other stakeholders.

Claudio Vitali will attend remotely on behalf of INAPP.
