The seminar presenting the Special issue of SINAPPSI 2/2024 ‘Technological development, digitisation, quality of work and industrial relations’ will be held on 7 November at the Inapp Auditorium.
What impact do technological development and digital innovation have on labour? Many studies are addressing the potential impacts of automation, digitisation and AI on the labour market, estimating the risks in terms of job losses or in relation to potential sectoral crises. What is happening (or might happen) in terms of job quality? The international monographic issue of Sinappsi attempts to answer this question by focusing on working conditions and on how automation and digitisation can affect, positively or negatively, ergonomic aspects (e.g. health and safety), economic aspects, development and career prospects, levels of autonomy or control at work.
Loriano Bigi, Director General of Inapp, opens the first part of the morning session. Tiziana Canal will introduce the objectives, the contents of the Sinappsi issue and the presentation of three contributions: ‘Workforce management in the digital era. Implications for occupational safety & health’, Maurizio Curtarelli, EU OSHA; ’Quality of work and digitisation. Open reflections on the Italian scenario’, Matteo Luppi, Inapp; ’Effects of employee monitoring on remote work. An empirical study from Germany and Spain using AMPWork survey data’, Sara Riso and Dragos Adăscăliței, Eurofound.
In the second part of the morning there will be a round table, moderated by Giorgio Gosetti, University of Verona, to discuss the impacts of technological and digital change in the labour market and the role of social partners. Taking part: Romolo de Camillis, Ministry of Labour and Social Policies; Giulio Perani, Istat; Bruno Anastasia, Labour Market expert; Manola Cavallini, CGIL; Mattia Pirulli, CISL; Antonella Pirastu, UIL; Pierangelo Albini, Confindustria.
Inapp President Natale Forlani will close the proceedings.
