On 12 March, the National PIAAC Conference – Cycle 2 will take place at the Marco Biagi Hall of CNEL and online. The event, organised by Inapp, is titled “Cognitive Skills in Italy in the International Context”.
This will be the first event in Italy to present the results of the Survey of Adult Skills, conducted in 2023 as part of the OECD Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC). The conference will also provide an opportunity to present the report “Cognitive Skills in Italy in the International Context: Determining Factors, Levels, and Social and Economic Returns”, produced by Inapp, as well as insights from the OECD international report “Do Adults Have the Skills They Need to Thrive in a Changing World? Survey of Adult Skills 2023”.
Additionally, experts in the field will discuss possible strategies to enhance the skill levels of the adult population in Italy.
The event will open with a speech by Loriano Bigi, Director General of Inapp, following institutional greetings and an introduction by Renato Brunetta, President of CNEL, Marina Calderone, Minister of Labour and Social Policies, and an OECD representative.
Several contributions from Inapp researchers will follow, introduced by Valentina Gualtieri: ‘Cognitive Skills of Adults in 2023’ by Simona Mineo; ‘The Evolution of Skills Over the Years’ by Silvia Donno; ‘Skills, Work, Social and Civic Well-being’ by Matteo Luppi.
The conference will conclude with closing remarks by Natale Forlani, President of Inapp, and Vincenzo Caridi, Head of the Department for Labour Policies, Pensions, Insurance, and Occupational Health and Safety at the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies.
