European Vocational Skills Week

The European Vocational Skills Week is an initiative promoted by the European Commission to raise awareness and appreciation of vocational education and training pathways, to promote different ways of learning, including work-based learning, and to support young people in discovering their talents.

The initiative intends to involve all actors in the field – young people, parents, teachers, companies, training and education providers, training centres, researchers, guidance practitioners, local, regional and national authorities, social partners, etc. – and to organise events all over the world to raise awareness on the importance of vocational education and training. The aim is to show how vocational education and training pathways are an excellent and quality choice: a ‘first choice’ that attracts both young people – so that they can find quality employment, develop an entrepreneurial mindset and have access to stimulating careers – and adults, so that they can retrain or re-enter the labour market.

All those active in the field of training are invited to participate actively by organising: open days at schools, companies or training institutions; thematic seminars, symposia or conferences; but also awards and competitions at national, regional or local level, events launching training programmes, press conferences and anything else that can help to give visibility to their activities and raise awareness of the good practices promoted in the field of VET.
