The Europass National Contact Point (NCP) collaborates with the European Commission, following two main lines of work. On the one hand, it promotes Europass documents (CV, Diploma and Certificate Supplements, and Europass Mobility) at the national level. These have been available since 2004 to enhance the transparency of citizens’ experiences, skills, and qualifications. On the other hand, it contributes to the implementation of the tools and services offered by the new Europass portal. Launched in 2020 under the new European Decision (No. 646 of 2018), the Europass portal is one of the 12 actions included in the New Skills Agenda (Action 11).
Managed by the European Commission and available in 31 languages, the portal provides a range of free, secure, and user-friendly tools and services for guidance, education, training, and employment, catering to diverse target groups. Its goal is to enhance the value of individuals’ experiences, skills, and qualifications, making them more transparent and understandable to employers and education and training bodies across the EU.
The portal’s main services include:
- The E-Portfolio – allowing users to create a personal profile, design CVs with new graphic templates, write cover letters, highlight their skills, manage applications, and access data on labour market needs in different European countries;
- A self-assessment test to evaluate digital skills;
- Information on study and work opportunities across Europe;
- European Digital Credentials for Learning, issued through a secure infrastructure that provides accredited bodies with fraud-proof certifications.
In this context, the Europass NCP project Pass2Europe (P2E) aims to support the development, implementation, dissemination, and targeted outreach of Europass tools between 2024 and 2026, ensuring continuity with previous grants (2018–2020 and 2021–2023).
The key activities include:
- Communication and dissemination of Europass at the national level, for example, by creating tailored training materials for secondary school students and learners in vocational education and training (VET) involved in career guidance and job placement;
- Support measures for different target groups, with an inclusive approach (e.g., a survey on the use of Europass by public employment service staff to assist job seekers and the development of information materials for third-country nationals);
- Promotion of Europass documents, particularly the Europass Mobility document, through the management of the dedicated application platform accessible at this link;
- Dissemination of the “Europass for businesses” website through Chambers of Commerce, thanks to the partnership with Unioncamere, which has joined the project as an associated entity;
- Collaboration with other national and international networks, including Euroguidance, EQF, EURES, the MED NEC Working Group at the European Commission, and the working group on the Europass Mobility document.
The dissemination of the P2E project activities is carried out through the SkillON website and the shared social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, X, and YouTube) of the three NCPs: Euroguidance, EQF, and Europass.
