The Children’s Worlds-International Survey of Children’s Well-Being is an international survey that was created in 2009 through the International Society for Child Indicators (ISCI). Founded by the Jacobs Foundation, its aim is to assess children’s subjective well-being between the ages of 8 and 12. Specifically, the research aims to collect robust and representative data on the status of children in different life domains (school, family, friends) with the goal of improving their well-being by creating awareness among the children themselves, their families, and their communities, as well as among opinion leaders and policymakers.
In 2021, the International Survey of Children’s Well-Being-Covid 19 Supplement was conducted to assess the well-being of children, girls, boys and young people during the Covid-19 pandemic, by providing them with a platform to voice their opinions.
The survey was conducted in 20 different countries. Italy participated through a collaboration between Inapp, the Department of Education Sciences of the University of Genoa, and the International Committee for the Development of Peoples (CISP), and involved 919 children, and young people aged between 10 and 12 years (5th year of elementary school, 1st and 2nd years of middle school), allowing them to give an assessment of their own well-being during the pandemic.
