The evolution of the healthcare labour market in the context of the digitisation of services and performance

Objective: To foster the employability of social and healthcare workers, considering current demographic changes, the experience undergone in the pandemic crisis, and the growing digitisation, also in light of the implementation of the PNRR
Survey population: physicians, nurses, and social and health workers working in the Italian public and private health sector
Data collection technique: CAWI (Computer Assisted Web Interviewing).

The survey is part of a line of research launched in 2018 aimed at analysing the implications of technological innovation on the working conditions and employability of mature workers.

Starting with the results of an initial qualitative study on the social and healthcare sector carried out in 2020, this survey aims, in particular, to:

  • describe and analyse the main critical issues and solutions adopted by workers, considering a longer working life, digitisation of services, and innovation of organisational processes
  • identify tools and measures for efficient governance of innovation processes in the social and healthcare system, providing useful suggestions to policymakers

The survey is conducted with the scientific collaboration of the National Centre for Telemedicine and New Care Technologies of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (i.e. the Italian National Institute of Health).

The questionnaire, designed for quick and easy completion, is disseminated through commonly used social networks, with non-probabilistic so-called “avalanche” sampling using LimeSurvey, which Inapp has customised so as not to collect the respondents’ personal data.
The survey is financed by the European Social Fund (ESF) and implemented by Inapp in its quality of Intermediate Body of the ESF Pon Spao, based on the 2018-2020 Work Program and its subsequent 2021-2023 update, Action 8.5.6, Scope 2, Activity 4 – Technological Innovation and Aging of the Workforce.
